Candles are used symbolically and for many practical uses. They are hugely symbolic as well as provide actual light n a very practical way, great in the event of a power cut.
We light a candle to commemorate or honour someone, we light candles to create ambient gentle lighting. Candles are used to create romance, to scent a room, even to decorate and co-ordinate the colours of a room. We use candles for so many different reasons, including spiritual, ceremonial, relaxation, meditation, dining and ritual.
For romance and passion Rose and Patchouli scented candles are perfect. Different fragrances will create different moods as will different colours of candle and can help stimulate, invigorate, relax etc.
Hopi ear candles are used to help clear wax from the ears by practitioners and are regarded as having great benefits.
We love to give candles as gifts don't we? Our love of candles assumes that any lucky recipient will be more than happy ro recieve them.
The earliest known candles were from the Ancient Egypt but of course cruder types of candles may have been around much earlier than this. The Egyptians and Cretans made their candles using beeswax which we still make today and many prefer as they are completely natural. Paraffin wax is used often as it is of higher quality and cleaner than other waxes. Soy candles are sought after as they are sustainable and earth friendly.
Candle come in hundreds of different designs, colours, shapes sizes and fragrances from chocolate, coffee and strawberry, to scent that conjure up the sense of the sea or of the forests and we can find mystical candles with fragrances that create a magical mood. Colour is used for ritual candle burning, helping to focus and enhance the energy of the intention. Yellow is a good colour for new beginnings, red is perfect for passion and energy. Whatever you use your candles for and whichever you prefer be it colour fragrance or shape always take great care and never leave your candle unattended. Extinguish your candles carefuly.
We at Moondust and Angels Moondust And Angels have many wonderful candles in stock
Here are some interesting and fun ways of using candles without lighting them
If you have a drawer that sticks remove the drawer or pull out as far as possible and generously rub a candle along the runners, you will find it much easier to pull the drawer in an out!
Rub a candle on rusty hinges to ease the squeaking
Children can paint a 'magic' drawing using a wax candle. Ask the child to draw anything they wish onto white paper with a white candle so that the picture is invisible. Then using a brush paint the paper with water based paint and watch the drawing appear as if by magic. This is fun for kids and they can take turns guessing what has been drawn
