What Is New-Age?

You may be wondering what is the new-age, what do new-agers believe and is it a religion?
There isn't a simple answer to this, however, I have read several articles written by people who purport to be experts on the new-age movement who have not denonstrated a true understanding of new-age beliefs.

The term 'new-age' is a referral to the Age of Aquarius, the dawning of the 'new-age' of Aquarius which the majority of new-age followers believe is beginning right now in our society.

The new-age movement is NOT a religion, it is a huge umbrella term which encompasses a wide cross section of spiritual beliefs and people who follow many different paths. Essentially people of the new-age are on a journey, a spiritual journey. We find amongst new-agers a great many who are spiritual healers and who practise for example, crystal healing and reiki.

The new-age follower recognises that spirituality in all forms has it's own valuable wisdom, all have something to teach us and are often breathtakingly similar to each other.
There is a growing acceptance and unity between people who follow different ways and an understanding that there is not necessarily a 'right' or 'wrong' way to embrace spirituality.
Religion for me, on a very personal level represents dogma and restriction whilst new-age spirituality represents freedom to seek, without prejudice a spirituality for one's self.

Global and collective conciousness is key to the Age of Aquarius reconciliation, healing of nations, peace and the voice of the people.
